  Thank you for visiting ‘El Rincón of Spain’ (The Spanish Corner).
  We are a husband and wife team (Aidan and Alazne) dedicated to supplying traditional Spanish gourmet products direct from Spain to your door. We specialise in whole ‘Serrano’ and ‘Ibérico Hams’ among other quality products which we source locally from producers who use traditional production methods handed down from generation to generation.
  
  During our time here, in Spain, we have had many visits from friends and family who all commented on the excellent quality and variety of food and wine available here. They enjoyed their culinary experience so much that not only did they end up buying traditional Spanish products (recommended by us, of course!) to bring home, but it wasn’t long before they contacted us to send them some more! Then we started to receive requests from Spanish friends living abroad for us to send them their favorite foods from home (after living abroad ourselves for some years we were only all to familiar with their needs).
  We were commenting this to some of our Spanish friends on a wonderful summer’s evening while dining a typical Spanish style banquet when the idea for ‘El Rincón of Spain’ was effectively born when it was suggested that we supply the gastronomic delights Spain has to offer through an on-line shop.
  After a lot of time dedicated to contacting local and national producers of typical Spanish gourmet foods and wines and with the help of the government through the local Chamber of Commerce we received backing for our idea and began to research it in more depth. We completed our project and with the official approval of the Chamber of Commerce we have now transformed our idea into reality.
  We are pleased to be able to offer you a range of quality produce selected by us, and sent direct from Spain to your door. We hope you enjoy what we have worked hard to achieve and we constantly strive to offer not only quality products but also a quality service.
  
  
  
  Aidan O’ Connor – A native of Dublin, Ireland now resident in northern Spain’s autonomous region ‘El País Vasco’ The Basque Country.
  Having led somewhat of a nomadic lifestyle for some years living and working during several years in the U.K. & Africa, travelling to places such as Greece, France and, of course, Spain and finally having had the opportunity to spend three years together with my wife Alazne in the U.S.A., we returned to Spain to effectively settle down .
  Initially, like many expats who come to Spain, I taught English in private schools but with a downturn in the private English teaching sector, I was faced with the difficulty of finding work in an increasingly competitive environment. I decided the best thing to do was to ‘go it alone’ and start my own small business.
  Being now immersed in the Spanish culture and having discovered my ‘senses’ regarding the culinary experiences this magnificent country and its Mediterranean diet has to offer, it wasn’t long before family and friends began to comment on how healthy I looked. I put this down to my change in diet; eating well is an important part of the Spanish lifestyle.
  
  
  Alazne Izulain - A native of Lezo, a small village in the province of Guipúzcoa in northern Spain between San Sebastian and the French border.
  Alazne, an English teacher by profession was only to happy to ‘lend a hand’ when the idea of ‘El Rincón of Spain’ was born. Having lived abroad on several occasions for both work and as part of her studies, Alazne experienced first hand the difficulties of finding quality Spanish products outside of her native Spain and relied on her family and friends to send her the occasional package of goodies such as vacuum packed slices of ‘jamón’ Spanish ham, ‘chorizo’, Spain’s famous cured spicy sausage, along with more of her favourites like special ‘paella’ rice.
  Based on her knowledge of Spanish cuisine Alazne plays an essential role in the selection of products on offer in our on-line shop and has also worked compiling traditional recipes from family and friends to share with you, our customer.
  Along with Aidan, her husband, Alazne strives to maintain our philosophy at ‘El Rincón of Spain’, that of continuous improvement to achieve 100% customer satisfaction !
